Students from the College of Education (CoE) at Zhejiang University (ZJU) claimed three gold medals for China at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, held in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.

WANG Zifei and HAN Jiayu, both undergraduates at ZJU’s CoE, teamed up with DU Yuchen to win the women’s 10m air rifle team event on the morning of September 20. The trio scored 1,904.2 points to break the world record and retain China’s Asian Games title in the event, giving the Chinese shooting team a winning start to the Games.

WANG Zifei then partnered with SHENG Lihao to take the 10m air rifle mixed team gold with a total of 507.1 points, her second title of the Games. Earlier that day, the pair had already broken the world record in the qualification round. Competing in the team, individual and mixed team events, WANG held her nerve through a demanding schedule.

TIAN Hao, another CoE undergraduate, helped China win the men's artistic gymnastics team final on September 23 alongside LAN Xingyu, ZOU Jingyuan, SUN Wei and ZHANG Boheng. The title was China's third consecutive Asian Games victory in the event and its 13th men's team gold since the country first competed at the Asian Games in 1974. Making his Games debut, TIAN took part in the floor exercise, pommel horse and horizontal bar, scoring 14.400 points on the horizontal bar to give his team a decisive advantage.

“Taking part in my first Asian Games and winning the team gold alongside my teammates left me with mixed emotions,” TIAN said after the final. “This gold is not the finish line but a new starting point. Every time I put on the national team jersey, I will give my all and show what ZJU students can do on the world stage.”
